You know how sometimes you are just doing your thing, like normal and all of a sudden, a thought comes to your head, and it changes your entire day or entire week, or even month?? That happened to me today. I'm just chillin, doing work around the house when suddenly this thought of surviving, driving and thriving comes to my mind. I thought, what does each one represent and how does it apply to my life? This is what came to mind!
Surviving - When working through a mental illness or any life struggle for that matter, it can often feel like there you are just surviving. Like you don't have any control over your life. Nothing really brings you joy, you don't feel like yourself, you don't have a lot of motivation. Yet you have daily responsibilities that have to be done, so you do them. That is surviving.
Driving - Driving is feeling like you are in control of your life. You feel more like yourself and are happy to be alive. You find more joy in your everyday life. Things are just good, yet you still feel vulnerable. You're happy though and confident in yourself and in your ability to control your life. YOU are in the driver's seat, taking YOU where YOU want to go.
Thriving - Thriving is the place everybody wants to be at. It is the place where nothing can stop you. Your past struggles are just that, a thing of the past. They don't bother you anymore. You feel happy and excited about life. You have great relationships with everybody in your life and you aren't afraid to be yourself. YOU love YOU! It is an amazing feeling that is hard to describe.
I can honestly say that I have been in each stage in my life. Currently I feel like I am driving. I am working my way up to thriving. I believe that everyone can thrive, that everyone can feel like their best selves. It is achievable and sustainable. It is my goal to create sustainable happiness in my life. I know you guys can do it to!
Where do you feel you are right now? If you are surviving, how can you start driving? If you're driving, how can you start thriving? And if you are thriving, what do you need to do to stay there? I believe in you!

Tyler
