Every ninja has a master. Every rookie has a mentor. Every student has a teacher.
Everybody needs someone they can learn from, someone who isn't afraid to tell them they are making a mistake, and someone who loves them enough to do these things. Becoming a ninja is hard, and you can't do it without a master teaching you. Becoming an educated person is hard and teachers make it a lot easier for you. Life is hard, so shouldn't we have people in our lives helping us out? I think so. For me that is my parents. I know they truly love me and want what's best for me. So when we sit down to have a discussion about life, I know it comes from a place of love.
Being in my mid 20's I feel like I don't have a firm grasp on life. On one hand, I have a direction which is nice, but on the other hand I still feel lost and don't know how I am going to accomplish every thing I want to. Sometimes I don't even know what I want to accomplish! Looking ahead to school and work, I get very stressed out because I know how much time both of those things take up. I was expressing this to my awesome advisers who advised me with the advice that, that's life. For whatever reason, this came across as harsh at first, but then I thought about it and it totally made sense. Life isn't supposed to be a breeze. Life is stressful sometimes, especially when you are trying to accomplish your dreams. I don't know, maybe I was holding onto the idea of life should be fair and easy breezy. That if I do the bare minimum, I can still succeed(or more like scrape by). That is no way to live. I am glad I got a loving kick in the butt from my awesome advisers.
After our talk, I found a new excitement for my upcoming semester of school. I see it as more of a challenge and a goal to succeed. I know it is going to be hard work, but good things in life, don't come from sitting around. You might be thinking, "Tyler's 24 and he is just figuring this out??" And to that I say, YEP! Everybody is in different stages in life. I am just grateful for loving advisers who help me move from one stage to the next with great advice.
Don't be afraid to ask for help. Also try and be humble when help is being given even when not asked for. Our advisers love us and only want to help! This is my advice to you!
